2018 Quarterly Reads #3
Life’s been a little crazy lately, so I haven’t gotten the chance to read as much as I’d like. Still on track for at least one book every month!
A memoir of a North Korean girl and her family’s escape and journey to freedom. It’s important to me to continuously educate myself about the corners of the world that are not so glamorous and to hear the stories of the people who come from them. Doin my best to stay as informed as I can so I can help as much as I can!!!
Dami Lee is one of, if not my favorite cartoonists out there on the Internet. Everything she makes is just so relatable and hilarious. So when her book came out, I just had to support my girl and make some me-time to read this! 100% would recommend for anyone, esp for Asian-Americans struggling to find their place in this multicultural sphere.
I heard quite a bit of criticism about the film before I watched it, so I was hesitant about whether I could enjoy it with all that in my mind. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed it so much that I had to immediately read the book so I could digest as much backstory as possible! Currently v. obsessed with Astrid/Gemma Chan these days.
